About Kaunto

Kaunto is a macro-nutrient tracking app for iOS and Android, built by EN PLACE AD S.R.L., a small company in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. This page explains where the site's numbers come from and how its articles are written, so you can decide how far to trust them.

The app

You set a calorie and macro goal once, then log what you eat by searching a food database, scanning a barcode, photographing a meal, or picking a saved recipe. One ring shows how much of the day is left. It connects to Apple Health and Health Connect and speaks thirteen languages. The app is not yet in the stores; the download page says where things stand.

Where the food numbers come from

The foods reference covers 1,200 foods. Every value per 100 g is taken from USDA FoodData Central (foundation 2026-04-30 and sr legacy 2018-04), a public-domain dataset, and household servings are USDA's own measures. Each page cites its FDC ID so the row can be checked at the source. The site uses the same index the app searches, so a food looked up here shows the same numbers when you log it. Nothing is estimated, averaged across brands, or adjusted by hand, and the pages state numbers without judging foods.

How the calculator works

The macro calculator uses the same formula as the Kaunto app: the Mifflin–St Jeor equation for resting energy, the app's activity multipliers, a daily adjustment for the pace you choose, and its three macro splits. Every formula and its source is printed on the page, and the arithmetic runs in your browser without storing anything.

How the articles are written

They are about macro tracking in general and are meant to hold whichever app you use. Kaunto appears only in the footer.
Numbers come from named studies, position stands or reference intakes, and the article says which.
They are written by the people who build the app, not by a content agency, and the publication and update dates are shown on each one.
They do not give medical advice. If you are managing a condition, are pregnant, or are under 16, the articles are not written for your situation.

Corrections

If a number on this site is wrong, tell us and it will be fixed, with the update date changed on the page.
